Disney Begins Gutting Test Track Queue, Work Underway on Support Columns

While visiting EPCOT earlier today, we took a spin on the monorail for an elevated view of the work underway on the Test Track reimagining. As a reminder, Disney World has not announced a reopening date for Test Track, but it is expected that the work will continue into 2025, perhaps more than a year.

From the monorail, we can see that there are a number of dumpsters being filled up as crews gut the interior portion of the queue. It also looks like work will begin on some of the hardscape in the area as well.

Eventually, the entire canopy will be removed and replaced with a more sleek overhang at the attraction entrance. Here’s a look at the canopy, followed by concept art of the 3.0 entrance as released by Walt Disney World.

Here’s a closer look at the queue, with the standby doors and exit doors open and vented.

Here’s a look back at the portion of the queue that is just inside those doors.

From inside EPCOT, we can see that a support column that has been covered for quite some time with a scrim when the ride was operating has now been uncovered

There is work taking place around the support columns, perhaps reinforcing them or making some repairs. It is expected that the track layout will remain the same when Test Track 3.0 debuts sometime in the future.

Finally, we can see that more scaffolding has been installed for access to an upper-level access door to move equipment in and out of the building. Presumably, this will allow easier access for contractors tasked with redressing the interior.
