Aerosmith Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

|

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster just celebrated its 25th Anniversary at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Aerosmith posted to social media for the rockin’ occasion.

When it opened back in 1999 at the Disney-MGM Studios Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster was the first roller coaster at the Walt Disney World Resort to feature a high-speed launch and multiple complete inversions. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith surprises guests with unexpected twists, turns, and high-speed revolutions along its darkened tracks.

The attraction begins with a tour of the fictional G-Force Records, where guests encounter the band finishing up a studio recording session. After being invited by the band members to see them in concert, guests climb aboard a 24-passenger “super-stretch limo” and swiftly accelerate into the Hollywood night.

Guests aboard each “Limotrain” will encounter nearly 5 Gs as they transition from launch to loop at the ride’s first inversion.

You know you’ve made it when… you are at your own roller coaster! Joe Perry and I got on it and we rode it 29 times just to get the sound right. Then we were like this [eyes wide and shaking], so I said, “Joe, let’s go do the Tower of Terror and it will get us straight!” And we did, and we were able to walk home after that! What a joy! And I can go down there and ride it whenever I want!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster was dedicated on July 29, 1999, and opened to the public the next day.
