Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Reliability: Opening Week in Review

    Published:

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been open for a week at Magic Kingdom, and as Disney World balances when to remove the Virtual Queue, we wanted to take a look back at the reliability of the attraction during it’s first week of official operation.

The story of the previews in June was that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was an unreliable attraction, but how are things looking now? As it turns out, it looks like reliability for the attraction is, in fact, improving.

If I was making decisions for Disney World right now, I’d be pretty comfortable opening up the standby queue basically any day now. With Peter Pan’s Flight closing on Monday, July 8th for a 6-week refurbishment, I’d have that date penciled into my calendar as a go-live for the traditional standby queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Of course, I’m not making any decisions for Disney, and Disney World has not responded to requests for information about when they’ll drop the Virtual Queue.

So, how are things looking for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure reliability, let’s take a look at two data points: downtime and Virtual Queue availability.

    Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Average Downtime

In terms of downtime, there has been a noticeable improvement in the past few days. Since June 28th, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been averaging 1 hour and 30 minutes of downtime per day. If you only count the first three days of operation, that average ticks up to 2 hours and 45 minutes of downtime, but if you only count the past four days, the average is down to 40 minutes of downtime. There were two days with no significant delays at all, which is a wonderful sign.

This is all a marked improvement over the Annual Passholder preview period, when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was averaging more than 4 hours and 30 minutes of downtime.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Virtual Queue Availability

Going to the second metric of Virtual Queue availability, it’s clear that that metric is improving as well – as you’d expect. With better reliability, Disney World is able to distribute more Virtual Queue Boarding Groups. The past two days, the 1pm Virtual Queue drop has lasted more than 10 minutes, and even the 7am drop is becoming slightly easier to obtain.

In short, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure reliability appears to be improving. Critical metrics are getting better, with less downtime and more Boarding Group availability. Disney World has not announced a date for when the Virtual Queue will be removed, but we’d imagine that it has to be around the corner.
