Peter Pan’s Flight Closing July 8th for 6-Week Refurbishment at Magic Kingdom

According to the Walt Disney World website, Peter Pan’s Flight will be closed starting July 8th for a 6-week refurbishment at Magic Kingdom. The popular Fantasyland attraction will reopen on August 21st.

As for the reason for the refurbishment, Disney World has not said yet. Back in early May, we reported about permits filed for the installation of set elements, but no specific details were available. We have previously asked Disney World for comment, but they have not responded.

Back in 2021, we wrote an article about how Disneyland Paris digitally altered an official ride-through video to remove a depiction of Native Americans. That move, along with other recently announced changes (at the time) to Splash Mountain and Jungle Cruise, made us think that Disney would turn their attention to Peter Pan’s Flight next, but nothing has happened yet.

Again, there is nothing in the permit to suggest what will be changing at Peter Pan’s Flight, but we’ll keep an eye out in the coming weeks and months for any changes.

The last substantial refurbishment for the ride was back in early 2019.
