A recent ride through video from Disneyland Paris might be tipping Disney’s hand when it comes to the next attraction to receive modifications as part of the Stories Matter inclusion initiative within the company.
Stories shape how we see ourselves and everyone around us. So as storytellers, we have the power and responsibility to not only uplift and inspire, but also consciously, purposefully and relentlessly champion the spectrum of voices and perspectives in our world.
As previously announced, both Splash Mountain and Jungle Cruise will be receiving updates in an effort to remove negative depictions of cultures within the attraction. In the case of Splash Mountain, Disney will be completely retheming the attraction into a Princess and the Frog ride. At Jungle Cruise, Disney will be reworking the storyline and completely changing some scenes.
Now, a recent ride-through video posted by Disney appears to show that the company has identified some problematic depictions within the Peter Pan’s Flight attraction and they have digitally removed two scenes in particular.
In the video posted by the Loopings YouTube channel, we can see the alterations made by Disney for their “Ride & Learn” video.
Here’s the video directly from Disneyland Paris.
Here’s our own ride through video of the Walt Disney World version of the attraction.
Disney has flagged Peter Pan as a movie that has “negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures” on their Disney+ streaming service.
Disney has not announced any changes to Peter Pan’s Flight as of publish time.
