Animal Kingdom Delayed Opening Scheduled for Mid-November

Disney’s Animal Kingdom will open an hour later than usual on Sunday, November 15th. Every other day on Disney’s posted calendar through early January starts at the park’s normal 8am opening time, which makes this the one morning when the schedule shifts. Disney hasn’t said why, and we don’t have a reason to share yet. Here’s the latest.

Animal Kingdom Delayed Opening on November 15th, 2026

  • Animal Kingdom’s usual morning schedule
  • How November 15th compares with the other Sundays this season
  • What Disney’s calendar does and doesn’t say about the change

Animal Kingdom’s schedule on November 15th starts an hour behind the rest of the calendar. Disney lists Early Theme Park Entry at 8:30am and the park opening at 9:00am, with a 6:00pm close. We went through every date on Disney’s park hours calendar from late October through early 2027 to see how that compares.

Animal Kingdom’s Usual Morning Schedule

On a typical day, Animal Kingdom opens at 8:00am, with Early Theme Park Entry starting at 7:30am for guests staying at Disney resort hotels. That opening time holds true for almost every date on the calendar. November 15th is the only exception.

Closing times vary a bit. Most days close at 6:00pm, while ten days stretch to 7:00pm or 8:00pm, all of them before November 15th. Every day after the 15th closes at 6:00pm, but can be extended at a later time. Wednesdays add Extended Evening hours from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for eligible guests through the end of the year.

How November 15th Compares

The 15th keeps the usual 6:00pm close, so the day is an hour shorter than a standard 8:00am to 6:00pm day. The day before is one of the longest on the calendar, with Saturday, November 14th open from 8:00am to 8:00pm.

Here is how the Sundays in November line up, using the time the park opens to everyone and the time it closes:

  • Nov. 1: 8:00am to 8:00pm
  • Nov. 8: 8:00am to 7:00pm
  • Nov. 15: 9:00am to 6:00pm
  • Nov. 22: 8:00am to 6:00pm
  • Nov. 29: 8:00am to 6:00pm

Disney has moved opening times at other parks around specific events, such as EPCOT’s 10am openings on October 23rd and 25th for Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend. Those changes came with a reason attached. Animal Kingdom’s entry for the 15th lists no special event of note.

It’s possible that this anomaly is a data entry error, and it could be adjusted at a later time. Typically at Animal Kingdom, we see the closing time extended, not the opening time. We’ll keep an eye out to see if Disney World makes any changes.

An 8am opening is usually quite the reward for guests who get up early. As the rest of Walt Disney World reaches for their first cup of coffee, you could be two or three attractions into your day. A 9am opening gives more guests time to catch up, so rope dropping on that day might be less productive.
