Peter Pan’s Flight, the classic Fantasyland dark ride attraction at Magic Kingdom, is now closed for a 6-week refurbishment. As of press time, the ride is expected to reopen on August 21st.

Construction walls surround the entrance and exit of the queue, as well as a portion of the outdoor queue near the front of the ride. Another portion of the outdoor queue remains uncovered. Here’s a look around.
As for the reason for the refurbishment, Disney World has not said yet. Back in early May, we reported about permits filed for the installation of set elements, but no specific details were available. We have previously asked Disney World for comment, but they have not responded.
Back in 2021, we wrote an article about how Disneyland Paris digitally altered an official ride-through video to remove a depiction of Native Americans. That move, along with other recently announced changes (at the time) to Splash Mountain and Jungle Cruise, made us think that Disney would turn their attention to Peter Pan’s Flight next, but nothing has happened yet.
Disney World is not necessarily oblivious to its problematic portrayal of Native Americans. Back in August 2022, we noticed that Disney World had changed the labeling of the Native American village in the Never Land map from “Indian Camp” to “Never Land Tribe”.
