The Walt Disney Studios Lot at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is celebrating its first holiday season. Decorations are now in place, with silver garland and blue and white ornaments on the lampposts and rooftop railing around The Magic of Disney Animation. The cool, wintry color scheme pairs nicely with the giant Sorcerer Mickey hat at the center of it all.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is dressing up for the holidays, including a reimagined, “new” corner of the park. The Walt Disney Studios Lot courtyard opened this past spring, followed by The Magic of Disney Animation on September 14th. That makes this the area’s first holiday season since Animation Courtyard closed for its reimagining. We stopped by this week to see how Disney decorated the space.

Blue and Silver Garland Fills the Walt Disney Studios Lot

Disney wrapped the lampposts throughout the courtyard in spirals of silver garland, with shiny blue ornaments, white ornaments, and clear C9-style bulbs tucked into the branches. Some of the blue ornaments have glittery silver stars painted on them, echoing the stars on the Sorcerer Mickey hat above the entrance. Against the area’s bright yellow walls and red-striped trim, the blue and silver really stand out.

Up above, long lengths of the same garland swoop along the green railing atop the building. The garland continues past the Studio Store sign, where Abu keeps watch. Across the courtyard, more garland hangs in swags over the large green soundstage doors, framed by oversized Dumbo and Zootopia 2 posters.

A Hidden Firefly and the Start of the Holiday Season

One lamppost holds a fun surprise. Ray, the firefly from The Princess and the Frog, sits on the pole with his glowing yellow tail. He fits right in with an area built around Disney animation, and kids exploring the courtyard will have fun spotting him along with other colors.

The holiday season officially begins at Walt Disney World on November 13th and continues through January 6th. Before that, Disney’s Hollywood Studios hosts the first night of Disney Jollywood Nights this Saturday, November 7th, with select event nights through January 5th. Guests don’t need an event ticket to see the new decorations, which are already out during regular park hours.
