It’s a big news day today with the news that Monsters Inc. Land will be replacing Muppets Courtyard and the MuppetVision 3D theater show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Imagineers are keen to keep The Muppets in the park, and are sending them over to Sunset Boulevard to take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in the future. However, that does mean that the MuppetVision 3D attraction will be closed and replaced. Disney says that they will have an all-new theater show in the venue.
Disney Explores Ways to Preserve MuppetVision 3D
In the announcement, Disney said that they’re having “creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the [MuppetVision 3D] experience”. Here’s the quote:
As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.
At the very least, Disney would be able to throw the film up on Disney+, but the part about preserving “other parts of the experience” certainly raises eyebrows. It’s unclear what Disney will do at this time, but here’s to hoping that they can figure out a way to save some of the physical parts of the attraction experience as well.
