Walt Disney World has finally confirmed that the Monsters Inc. Land will replace Muppets Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Monsters Inc. Land was initially revealed at the 2024 D23 Expo this past August, but competing concept art pieces immediately caused confusion within the Disney fan community on where the land will actually be located. There was even a report that Imagineering hadn’t settled on a location yet, and that the two pieces of concept art were intentionally vague as they made their final decision. The concept art piece that seemed to point to Muppets Courtyard was created in 2020, with the Animation Courtyard concept art wasn’t dated. Now, we know that the Monsters Inc. Land will end up in Muppets Courtyard, replacing MuppetVision 3D and other offerings.

As you can see in the concept art below, the Monsters Inc. Door Coaster will be at the back of the land, expanding the footprint of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The rest of the buildings in the land will remain in place and be rethemed or repurposed.

Get ready to open the door because Mike and Sulley are coming to town!

That’s right, humans will be able to enter the world of Monsters, Inc. when it is added to the south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Building off the exciting announcements from last summer’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the new land will include the coaster we’ve all dreamed of – a suspended ride recreating the door vault scene – plus dining and shopping and a whole new theater show.
