Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Switching to 2D at EPCOT, New Props Coming to Queue & Attraction

|

Walt Disney World has just announced that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will transition from a 3D attraction into a 2D attraction following a short refurbishment in November. This follows the announcement that the sister attraction in Disneyland Paris is moving to 2D going forward. Here’s the announcement!

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Switching to 2D

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will experience a short downtime Nov. 10-13, 2025 and will return with enhanced digital visuals and clearer imagery projected in 2D. Remy’s fans will spot new props and lighting enhancements when they are added to the queue and attraction over the next few months.

The move is an interesting one, but likely driven by feedback in Disneyland Paris where guests said that they preferred the 2D version of the ride over the 3D version.

While Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure does have large dome projection rooms, it is also rich with physical sets. Switching to 2D will likely make the ride better, offering guests clearer visuals versus the 3D version of the attraction. Hopefully, the new props that Disney said are coming to the attraction are to help blend some of the massive screens now that guests’ peripheral vision won’t be enclosed by the 3D glasses, but time will tell.

  1. Disappointing. This sounds like a downgrade.

We went to all four Florida parks and this ride (my kids aren’t BIG ride riders just yet) was one of their favorites. I would say it actually saved their Epcot experience as it was brutally hot that day and messed up the cues for Frozen/Norway.

  2. I have ridden both, and I do *not* agree with this assessment. Entire family thought the Florida ride was better. 3D was one of the factors but the other was the ride in Paris seemed “off”.

In one ride scene, we were splashed with water, and other riders were startled wondering where it came from. Seconds later the video caught up.

But 3D experience was better for sure.

  3. That’s a real shame to be honest… Riding this ride in 2D feels like something’s missing, like in scenes where something bursts towards the rider instead of feeling surprised at this thing suddenly coming at you, it just feels quite flat.

  4. Have ridden this about 5+ times in both parks. After the first ever time I sit with my kids with my eyes closed for any moving scene! Gives me a stinking headache otherwise. 3D glasses and motion ruin me

  5. My family and I loved the 3D ride in Florida it was fun and I don’t think it’ll be as much fun in 2D. Probably should’ve asked people what they thought if the 3D ride before deciding to change it my grandkids talked about the all day after riding it we rode it several times
