A construction milestone was reached recently with the topping off of the highest point of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The highest point is located atop some rockwork reaching skyward above the Millennium Falcon attraction.
Standing roughly 130 feet in the air, the mesh rockwork will serve as an amphitheater of sorts to hide the Millennium Falcon in the remote outpost planet of Batuu.
To mark the highest point, construction crews placed an American Flag and an evergreeen tree. The tradition of placing an evergreen tree can be traced back to Scandinavia, according to Imagineers working on the project, and it symbolizes the safe placement of the highest piece of steel in the structure.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2019, according to Disney.
