Disney has just filed some permits with the state that reveal not only the footprint of their newest Disney Vacation Club venture – Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge, but also the massive impact it will have on Fort Wilderness as a whole. Of course, right now it’s just a pile of dirt, but there are big changes on the horizon.
First, let’s take a look at an overview of the plans.
Ok, time to break down what we’re looking at here. First, we’ll start with the area highlighted in red. This will be the main structure, as seen in the concept art below it.
Revisiting the permit, we noticed that there will be some lakeside bungalows, likely very similar to what Copper Creek is over at Wilderness Lodge. The Fort Wilderness beach will be replaced by the bungalows. We’ve highlighted the bungalows in blue in the image below and included some shots of Copper Creek.
Of course, it’s not just the hotel footprint that the permits reveal, it’s also the massive impact it will have on the tranquility of Fort Wilderness around it. For example, we’ve highlighted Pioneer Hall in green below. It’s good news that the hall won’t be demolished, but the landscape will forever be changed as a result of this new DVC hotel.
Other notable items include the loss of Tri-Circle-D ranch as well as Mickey’s Backyard BBQ. As a reminder, here’s a look at the Fort Wilderness Settlement area as of last year, and then an overlay of the permit and impact it will have on the area.
