We made it out to Bay Lake today to check out the progress on the former River Country water park site. We brought you a first look at the start of the demolition back in early March when excavators first showed up on the site. Today, what used to be River Country is simply a pile of dirt. Crews have demolished all of the infrastructure and a large pile of dirt is on site for crews to fill in the lake that served as the main pool for the water park.

Here’s a look back to what the site looked like at the beginning of the demolition.

Back to this morning, the excavators are hard at work.

Disney has demolished the former water park to make room for Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge, their most recently announced Disney Vacation Club property. The new nature-inspired, mixed-use Disney resort will welcome families in 2022 and it will bring a total of more than 900 hotel rooms and proposed Disney Vacation Club villas spread across a variety of unique accommodation types.
