Disney Experiences brought a preview of Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge to Manhattan today with a 3D street mural in Flatiron Plaza. Street artist Tracy Lee Stum created the mural, which draws on Daydream River, the resort’s lazy river. The installation sits at the corner of 23rd Street and 5th Avenue in Flatiron Plaza and is open from 10:00am to 5:00pm today, October 2nd. Here’s the latest.

New Yorkers passing through Flatiron Plaza today can take a float down Daydream River without leaving Manhattan. Disney says guests can step into the mural to take photos and video of themselves enjoying one of the resort’s relaxing signature experiences. The resort itself opens next summer, and reservations begin next week.

The Daydream River Street Mural

Daydream River is the lazy river within The Wetlands, the pool and recreation area we detailed in our first look at the concept art. Disney says Stum’s mural previews the resort’s serene retreat. In Disney’s words, it is “inspired by Daydream River, the resort’s blissful lazy river.”

The artwork runs down the plaza as a ribbon of blue water, with rock formations along the banks and a waterfall at the far end. Orange and white inflatable tubes branded with Lakeshore Lodge sit on the painted water. Visitors can climb into one and pose as if they are drifting down the river. A turf lounge with an A-frame Lakeshore Lodge sign sits beside the mural. The Flatiron Building rises behind the scene.

Disney describes Stum as an acclaimed American street muralist known for colorful, interactive 3D chalk art. Her many awards, Disney says, include a 2006 Guinness World Record for the largest chalk painting by an individual.

What To Know About Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge

The resort opens July 1st, 2027, as a waterfront retreat along the shores of Bay Lake. Disney says the resort celebrates the beauty of nature through the artistry of Disney storytelling and draws on Walt Disney’s lifelong admiration for the great outdoors. Design influences come from Bambi, Pocahontas, Encanto, Brother Bear, and more.

The resort has 967 rooms, ranging from intimate studios and spacious villas to new one- and two-bedroom waterfront Lake Houses. Rooms will feature natural materials, earthy color palettes, and original artwork from classic films set in the great outdoors. Guests can also look forward to distinct dining venues, whimsical recreational offerings, and unique amenities, all just a boat ride from Magic Kingdom. We showcased the lobby and the three restaurants in our August first look at the dining venues.

Reservations open in three stages next week, starting with Disney Vacation Club Members:

  • October 6: Disney Vacation Club Members can reserve by contacting Member Services at (800) 800-9800.
