We made it out to Bay Lake today to take in a beautiful Sunday afternoon. What we found instead was some demolition taking place on the old River Country site. The site is in the process of being prepared for a new Disney Vacation Club hotel called Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge. News of this new resort preceded the official naming during Destination D in November, and while we’ve only seen permits for work up until this point, we were able to capture the first construction photos from the site this afternoon.
Disney also has set up a solar-powered time-lapse camera on Discovery Island across from River Country. The EarthCam camera will allow Disney to put out a time-lapse video of the construction like they did with Pandora – The World of Avatar and like they will be able to with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
