Disney and Brightline Confirm “Advanced Talks” For Train Station Connecting Orlando Airport, Miami, Tampa, and Walt Disney World

As reported by the Orlando Sentinel, talks between Disney and Brightline are advancing, with Disney finally commenting on the rumored project.

“As the top vacation destination and largest single-site employer in the United States, Walt Disney World Resort is an obvious choice for a rail station between Orlando International Airport and Tampa. While we have not yet made any definitive commitment, we have mutually agreed to more formally explore developing a train station on our property,” a Disney official confirmed.

The train system would operate under the ‘Virgin Trains’ brand. For his part, Michael Cegelis, Virgin’s executive vice president, said that discussions with Disney are in a “rather advanced state now.”

As of publish time, it’s unclear where the station would be located, but it’s likely that the station would directly integrate with the Walt Disney World transportation system.

    1. I’m curious – if the Virgin/Brightline will stop at the MCO Intermodal station south of the airport, where might the right-of-way go to WDW?
