Disney Confirms Mary Poppins and Spaceship Earth Projects Postponed at EPCOT

Earlier today, we broke the news that the Mary Poppins attraction and Spaceship Earth overhaul could be cut from EPCOT’s plans, given the fact that they’ve been removed from the EPCOT Experience, a preview center for the upcoming projects for the park.

Now, Laughing Place is reporting that a Disney spokesperson has confirmed our earlier reporting and that Disney is, in fact, postponing those projects.

As with most businesses during this period, we are further evaluating long-term project plans. The decision was made to postpone development of the “Mary Poppins”-inspired attraction and Spaceship Earth at this time.

  1. Glad to see that Spaceship Earth will remain in its current beloved form for a while longer rather than be tarted up into some sort of IP cartoon. If they want to freshen it at relatively low cost and with virtually no structural work, why not get a new narrator and script? Or even cycle through older recordings? With a bit of modern technical editing I think we could again enjoy Jeremy Irons or Uncle Walt (the Cronkite one).
