Extensive Work Planned for Tomorrowland PeopleMover, Significant Downtime Expected This Summer

According to Cast Members we spoke with in the area, the Tomorrowland PeopleMover is expected to receive extensive work over the coming weeks, and possibly longer.

We have not been able to independently verify the claims, but Cast from the attraction are telling us that the PeopleMover is receiving a full replacement of all of the magnetic linear induction motors along the 5400′ track.

As you might remember, the attraction was having issues before the parks closed that led to some significant downtime. Reportedly, Disney was trying to replace the motors as they failed, but with lower crowds in the theme parks this summer, they have opted for a full replacement. As you might imagine, the work is significant and we’re told it “could take a month or more”.

As with any rumor, you should treat this information as unofficial unless and until Disney confirms it. As of right now, the Tomorrowland PeopleMover has been removed from the My Disney Experience digital map, and is not officially listed as under refurbishment.
