Here’s How Disney World is Cleaning Their Attractions Throughout the Day

    Published:

With the reopening of Walt Disney World to the public set for tomorrow, we have a look at how Disney is keeping their attractions clean throughout the day.

Without any publicly stated official government mandates, it is up to the Central Florida theme parks as to how they will keep their parks clean throughout the day. While attending the Annual Passholder preview of Magic Kingdom yesterday, we observed the attraction cleaning process and spoke with Cast Members about not only the cleaning schedule, but also the cleaning agent used on the ride vehicles. Here are the details.

Attractions will close every two hours throughout the day for a cleaning of the ride vehicles. Depending on the length of time it takes to clean all of the ride vehicles, we observed that an attraction could be closed from 15-45 minutes as Cast Members disinfect the attraction.

After a cleaning, the ride vehicles will be cycled empty before loading guests. The easiest attractions to observe the cleaning were the outdoor attractions such as Dumbo and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. That said, all attractions go through the cleaning process throughout the day.

We even noticed a manager cleaning the Mad Tea Party teacups in between rides on teacups that weren’t in use by guests due to low crowds.

So, what was the cleaning agent in use? We went to City Hall for the answers. Disney World is using a Peroxide Multi Surface Cleaner and Disinfectant that is a 3-in-1 multi-purpose spray. This EPA registered product quickly disinfects in 3-5 minutes (kills 99.999% germs) and kills Norovirus in as fast as 45 seconds. Disney is using this disinfectant on all high-traffic surfaces around the resort, not just on attractions.
