Walt Disney World has announced that they will be adjusting the names for some room categories at Moderate-level resort hotels. The change will take place starting in 2026, and it will apply to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort (both French Quarter and Riverside). Here’s the announcement and details.

Room Category Name Change for Walt Disney World Moderate Hotels in 2026

For 2026 bookings, to simplify room categories and to improve Guests’ check-in experience we will be adjusting the names of some room categories at Disney Moderate Resorts, which includes Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort—French Quarter and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort—Riverside.

The main room categories moving forward are a Standard Room, a Preferred Room, or a room with a king bed. Some Disney Moderate Resorts will continue to offer additional categories – for example, the “Royal Guest Room” category at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort—Riverside.

The change will simplify the room categories, mainly categorizing the rooms by location rather than view. Other room categories will retain their name for rooms that have characteristics that are unique to a resort such as the “Royal Guest Room” category at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside.

Guests will still be able to make special requests, such specific resort buildings, views, floor numbers, or even specific room numbers. As always, special requests are not guaranteed and are subject to availability.
