Analysis: 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices Increase, Cheapest and Most Expensive Days to Visit

With the announcement that tickets are now available to purchase through the end of 2021, we wanted to go over the month-by-month pricing and take a look at the 2021 Disney World ticket prices, including the cheapest and most expensive times to visit Disney World.

So far, Disney has not increased the raw price of their tickets, but they have made it more expensive to visit at certain times of the year because of their date-based model. What do we mean by that? The range of a Walt Disney World ticket in 2021 is $109 to $159 – that is the same range as 2020 prices. That said, there was a 2.7% increase in pricing when you consider that Disney is bumping the prices in-between the two extremes.

Keep in mind that the following are single day ticket prices, and discounts are available for multi-day purchases. These are essentially a baseline for what visiting a Disney World theme park will cost.

January 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices

    • Average ticket price: $126
    • Highest price: $139
    • Lowest price: $114

When it comes to price increases, the start and end of 2021 saw the highest bumps. In total for January the prices went up $167, making it the 5th highest month in terms of price increases.

January can boast the largest single-day swing in pricing on the 16th with a $29 increase compared to 2020 prices. The 23rd also gets a notable increase of $22 year-over-year. The first two months of 2021 are the only months that contain a more than $20 increase in a single day. Looks like the discounts to be had in early 2020 have been “fixed” for early 2021.

That said, there are also some dates that went down more than $10 in price – January 11, 12, 19.

February 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices

    • Average ticket price: $127.32
    • Highest price: $138
    • Lowest price: $109

February saw an even greater price hike across the board, with a $200 increase in prices compared to 2020. February 9th is the first “cheap” day of 2020, but keep reading to find the cheapest months to go. It’s worth noting that February is typically when we see Disney increase prices for both regular tickets and Annual Passes. It’ll be interesting to see if they continue the trend in 2021.

February sees two significant price hikes on the 6th and the 12th, both more than $20 higher than in 2020. There was only one date in February that saw more than a $10 discount compared to 2020 – the 9th.

March 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices

    • Average ticket price: $133.45
    • Highest price: $140
    • Lowest price: $126

March begins the more modest price hikes, with the year-over-year difference only amounting to $72 in 2021’s favor.

April 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices

    • Average ticket price: $131.93
    • Highest price: $140
    • Lowest price: $115

If you were to buy single-day tickets for every day in April 2020 and 2021, the difference would be less than the price of a Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar – just $5.

    April 2021 Disney ticket prices

May 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices

    • Average ticket price: $127.35
    • Highest price: $136
    • Lowest price: $109

May 2021 has a $34 increase compared to last year, but also is the only month outside of August and September that has a $16 discount on a single day ticket. That might be a bit of a tease on what months are the cheapest, but it isn’t May.

June 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices

    • Average ticket price: $128.53
    • Highest price: $136
    • Lowest price: $120

June experiences a $56 increase in 2021, a modest increase by most calculations, but the months are about to get cheaper if you can wait until late Summer.

That said, if you’re used to traveling in June, it has modest increases of less than $7 throughout the month.

July 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices

    • Average ticket price: $128.42
    • Highest price: $134
    • Lowest price: $126

July 2021, like June 2021, doesn’t see a single day increase of more than $7. The fact that the summer months don’t see very much of a price hike jives with the observation that summer really isn’t the busiest time of the year.

August 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices

    • Average ticket price: $124.26
    • Highest price: $132
    • Lowest price: $109

Finally, we have reached August 2021, the most modest month of the entire year with just a $2 increase in overall price when compared to 2020.

August doesn’t see a single day increase of more than $11 and has 21 days that have less than a $2 increase year over year. August has the second highest amount of “cheap” days, with 6 days towards the end of the month at $109. A run of four days from August 23rd through 26th starts a trend of “cheap” four-day runs that would suggest that the cheapest time to visit Disney World in 2021 will be on the weekdays in late August through mid-September.

September 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices

    • Average ticket price: $117.53
    • Highest price: $138
    • Lowest price: $109

We continue to keep an eye on weekdays in September 2021, a month with the highest number of “cheap” $109 days. Nearly half of the month is priced at $109, making it the month with the lowest average price if you can time your vacation properly.

If we only had a few days to spend at Disney World, we’d likely target the week of the 20th, trying to get as many days in the $109 range as possible. Of course, there are a huge amount of factors at play, but if you’re looking for “cheapest price and best weather”, this is as late in the season as you can get in the $109 range. In reality, you’re going to find the best prices in September (and probably lowest crowds) as long as you can avoid the weekends.

October 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices

    • Average ticket price: $136.42
    • Highest price: $143
    • Lowest price: $126

It’s time for Disney to start making money again after some of the summer discounts. $136 is the highest average price of 2021, and spoiler alert, it’s only going to go up from here.

Not only are the average ticket prices going up, but so are the year-over-year increases. October – December 2021 will account for more than half of the 2021 price increases. In October alone, Disney is looking to pocket $264 more than in 2020.

    October 2021 Disney ticket prices

November 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices

    • Average ticket price: $140.33
    • Highest price: $150
    • Lowest price: $133

The analysis might be a bit boring from here on out as it roughly translates to “go if you must”. November 2021 is only $1 behind October 2021 as far as yearly price increases are concerned, with a $263 difference.

    November 2021 Disney ticket prices

December 2021 Disney World Ticket Prices

    • Average ticket price: $143.39
    • Highest price: $159
    • Lowest price: $133

Again, we go back to the fact that Disney hasn’t bumped it’s highest single day ticket price beyond $159 yet, but you should be prepared to surrender an average of more than $143 as Disney bumps the year over year margins by $209 in December 2021.

    1. Sorry – I dont understand the math here: Disney is looking to pocket $264 more per ticket per single day than in 2020. If the highest price ticket is $138, hos can disney pocket $264 more per ticket?

    2. I don’t think you can compare Jan 10, 2020 to Jan 10, 2021. As dates shift from weekdays to weekends, that will inevitably cause a price jump (and corresponding drop for other days). It seems comparing week over week (i.e. Week 1 vs Week 1) is a more valid comparison.
