Disney World Surveys Guests About Face Recognition

With the Facial Recognition Technology Test scheduled to come to an end this week, Disney World has sent out surveys to guests who participated in the test over the past month.

Back on March 23rd, we broke the news that Disney would be testing facial recognition at park entry. Later that day, we found the test underway at the Magic Kingdom park entrance.

Since then, Disney has been testing the new park entry process on a daily basis. Now, Disney has sent out a survey to guests who helped test the system to ask for their feedback.

In the survey, which you can see below, Disney was seemingly most interested in finding out how many guests were repeat users of the facial recognition park entry, and if their experience changed between the first visit and subsequent uses.

As for the technology itself, it captures an image of a Guest’s face and converts it into a unique number, which is then associated with the form of admission being used for park entry. The system does not store images of guests at all.

If the test is successful, we imagine it will be rolled out to all four theme parks, but that remains to be seen.
