Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings has just announced that the county is just two days away from reaching Phase 3 of their reopening plan. In this phase, all mandates would be lifted, including the indoor face mask mandate.
When the reopening phases were originally announced, the County put out the following infographic – showing that we simply had to hit a 14-day rolling positivity rate of 5% or lower. The county met that mark well over a week ago, but Demings said that he will be waiting until the county hits two weeks at or below that rate – which would be this Friday, June 4th.

Of course, just like prior updates that we’ve provided on national, state, and local guidance with regards to COVID-19, it is worth noting that Walt Disney World is a private business and will enact safety protocols that it sees fit. Disney has constantly met, and often exceeded, safety guidelines set by health officials. As of publish time, Disney has not made any announcements or modifications to their indoor face mask rules.

Earlier today, BlogMickey.com broke the news that select Cast Members are no longer required to wear face masks. This adjustment was made by Disney this afternoon, and Disney has consistently said that they will continue to adjust their health and safety protocols with the help of health officials.

If Disney chooses to follow county guidelines as quickly as they did when Orange County dropped the indoor mask mandate, we could see a policy change as soon as this weekend.
