Earlier today, we told you that Disney would be changing it’s face mask policy for outdoor attractions, queues, and theaters. Now, Disney has updated their website to reflect the changes that are supposed to take effect tomorrow, August 19th, but may be in place based on Cast Member discretion for the rest of the operating hours today. Here’s a look at the old policy, followed by the new policy.

Here’s the new policy, which technically relaxes the policy that used to have guests wear a face covering in outdoor queues and attractions. Now, the policy changes the face mask optional areas from “outdoor common areas” to “all outdoor areas…”.

We’ll know more about how this policy functions in hybrid scenarios such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or the Tomorrowland PeopleMover when the policy officially takes effect tomorrow.

This is nonsense. With Delta being much more contagious than earlier strains, you are more likely to catch it in outdoor crowds than back when masks were required outdoors, 6-foot distancing was in effect, and park capacities were lower. And Florida’s Covid cases now are the shame of the nation.
