FIRST LOOK: TRON Lightcycle Run Canopy Roof Installation Has Begun at Magic Kingdom

On a rainy, cold afternoon here in Central Florida, crews installed the first piece of the roof membrane for the TRON Lightcycle Run canopy in Magic Kingdom. Today’s work was preceded by crews staging what appeared to be material for the roof installation yesterday.

Now, the first segment of the ETFE roof has been installed in a small corner of the canopy skeleton. When completed, the entire canopy will be translucent and have a kinetic lighting package that will follow the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster cars as they loop through the outdoor section of the ride. Here’s a look at the finished product out in Shanghai Disneyland.

Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro said that the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster was “coming soon” back in November 2021. An opening date, month, or year has not yet been announced.
