UPDATE (7:45pm): Splash Mountain has reopened.
It certainly looked like crews were rushing to finish the Splash Mountain refurbishment and indeed, it failed to open this morning from refurbishment. A message from Magic Kingdom Vice President Melissa Valiquette apologized to guests to for delay in reopening.
Cast Members that BlogMickey.com spoke with said that they expect that Splash Mountain will be closed this morning, but they’re hopeful it will reopen this afternoon. No exact timeframe has been given.
Splash Mountain will eventually close permanently as an attraction themed to Disney’s controversial Song of the South movie, and be rethemed to a Princess and the Frog attraction. Despite Disney’s original claims that a Princess and the Frog ride has been in the works since 2019, Magic Kingdom’s Vice President more recently said that the redesign is “going to take us a bit of time”.
