New Parking Lot Signs Installed at EPCOT, Are New Parking Lot Names Next?

Following up on an article that we posted back in August 2022, new parking lot signs have been installed at EPCOT. The new signs are smaller than the current signs, and feature a three-sided top that will make finding the parking lot name a bit easier than the current two-sided design. Before we jump into our theory on why EPCOT’s parking lots will receive new names, here’s a look at the newly installed signs!

And one photo for posterity’s sake.

Ok, let’s jump into our theory on why EPCOT’s parking lots will receive new names soon. During EPCOT’s recent parking lot pavement project, not only did the parking lots receive new numbering, but they also didn’t receive something that they have had in the past…a name. As you can see in the photo below, there are no parking lot names on the rows. EPCOT previously had the names printed alongside the row number. It’s possible that the parking lot names will be painted when the signs are completed and the new parking lot names debut. Or Disney didn’t want to pay for extra paint. Who knows. Either way, we’ll continue to follow the EPCOT parking lot saga through to the end of the project, if only to give ourselves something to do while we walk to the park entry because trams still haven’t returned.

    1. Transportation is broken at WDW. The parking lots at Epcot are a prime example. At one time, the trams put a facade on the parking problem, but Disney has decided they are too much effort and essentially cancelled them. But the issue is that the lots are just effing huge. When a guest does decide to leave the park for the day, they’ve got themselves a good 5 mile hike in front of them. It sucks. Tired. Sore feet. Screaming kids. The car feels like it’s in another state.

In my opinion, Disney needs to invest a ton of money into its parking lots. Far, far, far, more transportation needs to be added to its parks. In Epcot, moving sidewalks or PeopleMover-like transportation systems need to be installed. And not in just some limited path like the trams. These new sidewalks or people movers must go up and down the rows of cars. And these systems shouldn’t just be limited to the parking lot, but should circumscribe the park. If the park closes and I’m down by the American Pavilion, I should be able to exit out of the back of the park – behind the pavilion, catch some sort of continuously moving transportation system, and have it take me to the parking lot.

Sorry for the rant. I’m old, fat, and grumpy. And I’m tired of the leg cramps I have when I get back to my car. Legs that can barely bend to climb into the car, etc.
