New aerial photos from friend of the site bioreconstruct show more barges have arrived for EPCOT’s new fireworks show set to debut later this year. As a refresher, here’s how Disney World has previously described the new show:
Guests will be treated to the debut of an all-new EPCOT nighttime spectacular later this year. A dazzling display of music, pyrotechnics, lasers and lighting, the show will feature an original composition and evocative selections from the Disney songbook – all woven together to remind us that we are more alike than different.
This dramatic new show will bring us together as citizens of the Earth, uniting us through commonalities of the heart in a dazzling pageant of fireworks, lasers, music, and light.
Here’s a look at the barges in a backstage marina as Disney World continues to work on infrastructure for the new show in World Showcase Lagoon! The barges appear to have onboard motors, solving a massive sightline problem that Harmonious had during the daytime hours. There will also be pyrotechnics loaded onto the barges and they’re very likely to have a water element.
Additionally, it looks like smaller platforms will be stored in the central part of each barge, with each of those smaller platforms likely to be deployed into World Showcase Lagoon in the evening with the larger barges. The smaller platforms have lighting and pyrotechnic capabilities.
It’s expected that there will be 6 total barges radiating out from the hexagonal infrastructure under construction in World Showcase Lagoon.
Meanwhile, in World Showcase Lagoon, work is underway to create infrastructure for the project. Currently, crews continue to drive pilings into the lagoon while also constructing a hexagon-shaped platform near the middle of the lagoon.
