Spaceship Earth-Inspired Paneling at CommuniCore Hall in EPCOT

While the World Celebration Gardens are complete and waiting for a December 5th opening date, work continues on the CommuniCore Hall structure in the southwest section of World Celebration. While visiting EPCOT earlier today, we decided to point the camera in the direction of CommuniCore Hall after taking a look at the latest work over at The Seas Pavilion.

First, here’s a look at concept art for the building, which includes the Mickey & Friends meet-and-greet area, and a dedicated Festival exhibition space. In the art below, you can see how dynamic the panels will be once they are lit from behind.

As with any 4-year-long project, we’ve started to lose a bit of interest toward the end and I realized that we haven’t posted any photos of the Spaceship Earth-style panels on the exterior of CommuniCore Hall. That changes today. Here’s a look at the latest progress, and some new installation taking place on the side of the building facing the CommuniCore Plaza party area.

We’ll start with a look at the work taking place on a south-facing portion of the building, near the CommuniCore Plaza party area. As a reminder, CommuniCore Plaza will be an outdoor music venue that has an open-air stage and what we hope will be a dynamic lighting package for a plaza area where guests can enjoy an evening at EPCOT.

Going to the north side of the building, we can see the largest number of Spaceship Earth-style panels. This area faces Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana, but is mostly not visible from within the self-guided nature trail. Instead, this portion of the building will be visible as guests walk from the World Celebration Gardens west toward The Land Pavilion.

Over on the eastern side of the building, some paneling installation has begun, but it will continue into the new year as CommuniCore Hall remains behind construction walls after the World Celebration Gardens open to guests in just a few days.

As you may have noticed in one of our earlier photos, crews were working on one of the many lighting ladders that will be found throughout World Celebration Gardens. In fact, there are going to be multiple styles of light fixtures found within the gardens, and there will be at least 6 of these lighting ladders in the gardens.

World Celebration and Dreamers Point open to guests on December 5th in honor of Walt Disney’s birthday.
