With an undefined 2024 opening date, the CommuniCore Hall exhibit space, CommuniCore Plaza entertainment area, and the Mickey & Friends meet and greet venue are making good progress for a likely late-Spring, early-Summer opening at EPCOT. This is the final piece of the EPCOT Overhaul project as we know it, with many projects being budget cut.
While visiting the park recently, we grabbed some updated photos of the CommuniCore Plaza party area, which is receiving an audio-visual installation at the moment. Much of the theming has been completed, and work now seems to be focused on breathing some life into the space.
CommuniCore Plaza will be an outdoor entertainment venue, with concept art suggesting bands and other live entertainment during EPCOT’s many festivals. It would seem like Disney would want to use the space year-round, but that remains to be seen. The stage will be covered, but there will be an uncovered courtyard that fill be flooded with lighting effects once the sun sets and the party begins.
As you can see in our photos below, crews were on site today working on some of the infrastructure that will support shows and entertainment when the venue eventually opens. Here’s a look around!
In-roof lighting has been activated for a little while now, and it looks like it will synchronize with other nearby lighting elements.
Here’s a wider look at the construction from the CommuniCore Hall gardens in the World Celebration Gardens. Right now, this seating area is sort of a “hidden” gem, but we imagine it will be more popular once the construction walls come down and the party begins.
From the Imagination Pavilion, we can see the courtyard portion of CommuniCore Plaza.
It looks like glass windows have been installed on the CommuniCore Hall building.
