Rumors Suggest Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade to Close Permanently for New Disney Vacation Club Member Lounge

Howdy partners! If rumors are to be believed, the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade is set to close soon to make room for a new Disney Vacation Club Member Lounge in Magic Kingdom (via wdwmagic). Disney Vacation Club previously announced plans for a new Member Lounge, but they have not officially announced a location.

Back in January 2024, Disney World teased more projects for Frontierland, but it’s not clear if this rumored DVC Member Lounge was what they were hinting at, or if there was something more substantial that all guests would be able to experience. In that January 2024 article, we suggested that the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade wasn’t going to stick around forever.

Cast Members we have spoken with have previously said that there are plans to open a new DVC lounge in each park, but that those plans would take years to realize. Currently, there is a DVC Member Lounge in the Imagination Pavilion at EPCOT.

The Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade is an opening day attraction at Magic Kingdom, and it went free-to-play back in September 2021 after previously charging guests $1 for 35 shots. The attraction currently has operating hours through early June, but it could close at any point.

Here’s how Disney World describes the attraction:

Ready! Aim! Fire!

Mosey on up to a rustic log cabin and fill yer hands with a replica .54-caliber Hawkins buffalo rifle. Against the southwestern landscape, a familiar sight comes into view: legendary Boot Hill in the famous frontier town of Tombstone, Arizona.

Using projectile-free infrared technology, take your best shot at a bevy of moving and stationary targets. The dusty setting provides a picture-perfect backdrop to test your marksmanship.

Safe Shootin’

Rifles at the Frontier Shootin’ Arcade do not fire pellets or projectiles of any kind. Instead, each rifle fires an invisible beam of safe infrared light. When the infrared light from the rifle strikes a sensor on the target, a hit is signaled. So fire away!
