While visiting EPCOT this evening, we noticed that the pavilion flags that normally flank the front of Spaceship Earth were missing. Or rather, most of the flags were missing. Here’s a look at the EPCOT entrance plaza from our visit today, with all of the flags removed, and it looks like at least one was damaged due to high winds over the past couple of days thanks to Hurricane Debby as it passed through northern Florida.
EPCOT Entrance Flags Missing
The pavilion logo flags were flying yesterday, but removed today, perhaps to repair after sustaining some damage. Interestingly, we didn’t see Disney really prepare much for this storm. Typically, the flags would’ve been brought inside and movable items would be secured. We didn’t notice any of that this time around. To be fair, the storm was a relatively late bloomer and it was clear days ahead of time that the Central Florida area wouldn’t sustain a direct impact. By and large, there was essentially no damage at Walt Disney World following Hurricane Debby.
Here’s a look at what the flags normally look like. The flags have been damaged in the past and reinforced.
