EPCOT Dedication Plaque Removed from Park’s Main Entrance

While visiting EPCOT recently, we stopped by the main entrance to snap a few photos. As you can see in our photos below, the dedication plaque has been removed from its typical location in a planter outside of the park’s main entrance.

First, here’s a look back at the dedication plaque from Card Walker, which reads:

To all who come to this
Place of Joy, Hope and Friendship
WELCOME

Epcot is inspired by Walt Disney’s creative vision. Here, human achievements are celebrated through imagination, wonders of enterprise and concepts of a future that promises new and exciting benefits for all.

May EPCOT Center entertain, inform and inspire and above all, may it instill a new sense of belief and pride in man’s ability to shape a world that offers hope to people everywhere.

And here’s a look at the entrance area from a recent visit to the park. Planters have replaced the plaque. It’s unclear if the plaque was somehow damaged, or if it’s being refurbished. It’s unlikely to be gone for much longer. Disney has not returned a request for comment.
