Disney’s Animal Kingdom has two new treats that began as Walt Disney World contest entries, and both won gold. The Churro-misu Cold Brew at Isle of Java and the DOLE Whip Pineapple and Chili-Lime and Churro Sundae at Warung Outpost came out of the Churro-lympics, a property-wide competition among culinary teams. Chef Brad and his team created them, and Disney says guests can now try both.

The Churro-lympics challenged culinary teams from across Walt Disney World to reimagine the classic Disney churro, and Disney says the internal competition began back in April. Chef Brad’s team aimed for flavors that feel globally inspired and full of discovery, which suits Animal Kingdom. Each new item pairs a churro with another favorite flavor, one with coffee and one with DOLE Whip.

Churro-misu Cold Brew at Isle of Java

Rope dropping at Animal Kingdom? Isle of Java has the Churro-misu Cold Brew, a drink built around the flavors of classic tiramisu. It starts with sweetened Joffrey’s Cold Brew Coffee. A layer of mascarpone cream and a dusting of cocoa powder give it the tiramisu look, and a crunchy churro finishes the drink.

Joffrey’s coffee flavors meet the sweetness of a churro in the cup. Chef Brad says the team wanted the flavors of classic tiramisu. The mascarpone cream and cocoa powder carry that idea forward.

DOLE Whip Pineapple and Chili-Lime and Churro Sundae at Warung Outpost

Warung Outpost sits near Feathered Friends in Flight!, an easy pit stop after Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail or Maharajah Jungle Trek. The sundae layers DOLE Whip Pineapple with chili-lime marinated pineapple and a warm cinnamon churro. Chef Brad describes the result as a balance of sweet, tart, spicy, creamy, and crunchy in one tropical sundae.

Disney calls the churro and the DOLE Whip iconic Walt Disney World snacks, and Chef Brad says the team wanted to bring them together. He frames both creations as proof of what his culinary team can do with familiar ideas. In his words, “Both of these were gold medal-winning entries in the Walt Disney World Churro-lympics competition that represent our team’s ability to take classic flavors and iconic snacks and turn them into new, delicious, and exciting offerings for our guests.” Chef Brad adds that guests are enjoying the sundae so far, calling it something cool they can walk around the park with on a hot day.
