It’s not all Test Track demolition updates from EPCOT these days. On a recent visit, we popped into The Seas Pavilion to take a look around and found some notable changes. One of the first-floor exhibits is closed to welcome a new species and there is a new NatGeo game upstairs. Let’s take a look around!
Ocean Life Module Closed
The Ocean Life module is closed, and a sign nearby says that a new species is being introduced to the exhibit. This display typically features a number of smaller species such as seahorses, clownfish, urchins, shrimp, starfish, and even an eel. No word yet on what the new species will be, but it’s pretty exciting and we’ll keep an eye on it!
OceanXplorers NatGeo Game
Upstairs, in the nursery module, guests can play a new game featuring the IP tie in of National Geographic’s OceanXplorers series. OceanXplorers premiered on National Geographic last week, and the games are also very new. There are a number of touchscreen devices that allow you to play a few different edutainment-style games, learning about a specific ocean species as you go along.
The premise is that the OceanXplorer research ship needs help conducting a few tests, and they’re messaging SeaBase in EPCOT to help carry out remote scientific missions. One game that we played had us run a simulation of a Hammerhead shark using electro-magnetic signals to find prey. Another game had us drop microphones in the water around a bay to listen for whale calls to try and locate a whale. There are different games and species for different oceans.
