Report: The Walt Disney Company Resumes Ad Spending on ‘X’ the Renamed Twitter Social Media Platform

    Published:

According to a report from AdWeek, The Walt Disney Company, along with other major brands, have resumed ad spending on X formally known as Twitter following a pause in November 2023. Disney was among a number of major brands that paused ad spending on Twitter following antisemitic comments from Twitter owner Elon Musk.

Disney Resumes Ad Spending on ‘X’ Social Media Platform

We reported that Disney also paused the use of many of its company Twitter accounts, although some accounts kept posting through the ad spending pause. Of interest to readers of this site is the Disney Parks Twitter account, which delivers news and updates for the Walt Disney World theme parks and beyond. The Disney Parks Twitter account went silent for four months, only returning to the platform to promote the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure earlier this Spring.

The account then only tweeted a couple of times per week until August when a noticeable uptick in posts were made on Twitter. Even then, August was well below the average number of tweets for the Disney Parks account since before Elon Musk bought the social media platform.

Going back to the report on the resumption of ad spending, AdWeek cites data from MediaRadar, noting that Disney has spent just under $550,000 in ads this year. The data shows that the major brands that have resumed spending have done so at a rate that’s 98% lower than the same time period in 2023.

Data showed that Disney and other large brands took their money to Meta following the ad pause on Twitter last year.

Following the news that Disney and others had stopped advertising on Twitter, Musk responded by telling Disney CEO Bob Iger and other advertisers to “Go f–k yourself“. Iger later responded to Musk’s comments by saying that he ignores it. Iger said that Musk’s comments “have no bearing on The Walt Disney Company or me”. Iger also said that people have been coming after Iger and Disney for years, and that he doesn’t get distracted by it.

    1. What else do you expect from a cowardly, craven capitalist like Bob Iger?

The guy has zero integrity or ability to do anything but bow down before money & brands. Can’t wait for him to go, he’s done irreparable damage to Disney.
