Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama had its final day of operation yesterday, which means that construction walls are up this morning in DinoLand USA. This kicks off phase one of the construction of a new Tropical Americas-themed area set to replace DinoLand USA. Behind these construction walls will be an all-new Encanto-themed attraction. Walt Disney World says that the Tropical Americas-themed land will open in 2027. Here’s a look at the construction walls, followed by a discussion about what this section of the theme park will look like in 2027.
Construction Walls Surround Portion of DinoLand USA
Construction walls now surround a portion of DinoLand USA as part of the first phase of work that will eventually see the entire land reimagined into a Tropical Americas-themed land. Behind the construction walls is the Dino-Rama area, which consisted of the Fossil Fun Games, TriceraTop Spin, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures gift shop. We’ll have more coverage on each of the offerings throughout the day, but we’ll start with a look at the construction walls.

Looking to the left first, we can see that the walkway to the Finding Nemo show and Expedition Everest remains open for now. Disney is in the process of installing proper construction progress walls, but for now, shrubs to most of the work.

A peek past the low shrubs shows little work has been done overnight. A Cast Member party took place after the park closed, so it’s possible that crews had a little bit less time than they normally would. That said, some crew are working this morning in the Dino-Rama area, and most appear to be working in the Dinosaur Treasures gift shop.

Going back around to the right side of the land, toward the Dinosaur Treasures gift shop, we can see that walls are installed just beyond the Dino-Rama Welcome Center, which is where Donald Duck will continue to meet with guests.

Looking backward toward the front of DinoLand USA, we can see that walkways remain open to DINOSAUR, which will remain open through the end of the year, Restaurantosaurus and the area meet and greets. The Boneyard also remains open this morning.

Finally, construction walls are also up near the exit of DINOSAUR. The seating area remains open to guests, but the pathway to Dinosaur Treasures is behind construction walls.

Tropical Americas Phase One Construction
The first phase of construction for the Tropical Americas land will be the construction of the Encanto attraction. This is one of two all-new attractions being built for the land, with the Indiana Jones-themed ride being a retheme of the DINOSAUR attraction. We’ve highlighted the phase one construction below, which generally bounds the construction walls that we saw were installed this morning.

The second attraction being built for the land is a “simple” carousel, which is far less construction-intensive than the Encanto-themed attraction.
Walt Disney World has said that the DINOSAUR attraction will remain open through the end of the year. At some point in 2026, we would expect the remainder of DinoLand USA to close completely. It’s likely that the Encanto ride won’t be ready to open by the time DINOSAUR closes, and I can’t imagine that Walt Disney World would want to keep the remainder of the land open simply for Restaurantosaurus, but who knows.
