We made it out to Epcot this morning to check in on the International Gateway construction project. The International Gateway connects the Epcot area resorts such as Disney’s Boardwalk Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort to Epcot itself. The whole area is in a period of transition now as Disney prepares to handle even more guests once the Disney Skyliner gondola system opens this fall.
It’s with the Skyliner that we start our update. The walls around the Disney Skyliner gondola system tower are now down next to the Friendships launch.
When one wall comes down, another rises. There are now walls up to the right of the current bag check area. It’s likely that Disney will be expanding the bag check stations to accommodate more guests using the entrance thanks to the Disney Skyliner. If that’s the case, it appears that the Disney Skyliner gondola system will be outside of the parks security bubble.
Here’s a reverse look at the area under construction from inside of Epcot, looking back.
Not much can be seen beyond the walls, but here’s a look nonetheless from the France pavilion bridge.
Finally, there is a small area walled off near the World Traveler gift shop.
We’ll continue to cover this and many more projects from around Walt Disney World, so make sure you check back often!
