New ‘Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular’ Fireworks start June 17

The new nighttime spectacular, Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular, will debut on June 17 at Hollywood Studios. The new show will combine fireworks, pyrotechnics, and projection effects to turn the Chinese Theater into the twin suns of Tatooine, a field of battle droids, the trench of the Death Star, Starkiller Base and other Star Wars destinations.

Starting in summer 2016, a new Star Wars fireworks show, "Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular," will debut to guests at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The nightly show will combine fireworks, pyrotechnics, special effects and video projections that will turn the nearby Chinese Theater and other buildings into the twin suns of Tatooine, a field of battle droids, the trench of the Death Star, Starkiller Base and other Star Wars destinations. The show also will feature a tower of fire and spotlight beams, creating massive lightsabers in the sky. (Disney/Lucasfilm)

The new show will also more than likely feature a new fireworks launch site currently under construction. No word on if or when the current show will be discontinued or how long of a gap there may or may not be between shows.

While we wait for the new show, check out our sneak peek at how the fireworks crew prepares the current show.
