Siemens Will Not Renew Contract With Disney Parks; Contract Ends in October

UPDATE: Siemens spokesperson Darren Sparks has offered us the following quote, confirming the end of the partnership.

“For the last 12 years, Siemens and The Walt Disney Company have enjoyed an exciting marketing and technology alliance that has brought tremendous visibility to the Siemens’ brand and joy to its employees. The Siemens/Disney sponsorship has evolved with the company’s changing portfolio since 2005 and has exceeded expectations. The sponsorship will reach its mutually-agreed upon end date October 2017. This successful relationship has truly been a fusion of creativity and innovation between the two organizations.”

    Original story below.

According to multiple sources, Siemens employees received an email today stating that the company’s partnership with Disney will not be renewed at the end of 2017.

There is no word on what this might mean for Spaceship Earth or Illuminations, which are both sponsored by Siemens. With Epcot’s future a bit up in the air, this is an interesting move just weeks ahead of the D23 Expo.

This is a developing story and we’ll update this article with information as it becomes available.
