Preparations are now underway for the gondola station at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Smart City Telecom, which is the communications provider for Walt Disney World, has recently placed utility markers on the site.
First, let’s take a look at the permit for the station.
Merging that with a satellite view gives us a clearer look at the construction area.
The area in question is the plot of land between the walkway from Boardwalk, the Friendship Boats waterway, and the bus drop off area.
The markers can be seen scattered throughout the construction zone. The markers are usually the first signs of a project as they warn where digging can and cannot occur.
We saw the same markers at Epcot before they started construction on their own station. Using Epcot as a timeline, it’s likely that construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will begin in the coming weeks. The Hollywood Studios station is a bit more complicated though as there is a considerable amount of foot traffic as well as bus traffic in the area, but more on that in a bit.
