We normally don’t write about movies, but sources have come forward with what is likely the final title for the upcoming Space movie set to take place in the Cars/Planes Universe from DisneyToon Studios. The movie will be called “Beyond the Sky” and will explore the future of aviation—taking moviegoers to the edge of discovery in the air—and beyond.
The movie was teased at last years D23 Expo by John Lasseter and has a release date of April 12, 2019. Beyond the Sky will be directed by Klay Hall (Planes) and Bobs Gannaway (Planes: Fire & Rescue), and produced by Ferrell Barron.
During the quick teaser at the D23 Expo, Lasseter said, “it is harder to think of a title than it is to get to space”. It seems like a title has been settled on – over a year before the theatrical release. Lasseter didn’t specifically call out the Planes franchise, although the teaser shown at D23 contained anthropomorphic planes and space vehicles.
Not only do we have the title of the movie, but also the logo, as seen below.
Disneytoon Studios has produced 47 feature films, including both Planes and Planes: Fire & Rescue.
I like the combination of “Disney” with “Sky” 🙂
Current (unlikely) rumor is Tokyo Disney Resort is getting a DisneySky park…
