The Illuminations: Reflections of Earth globe that was the centerpiece of the nightly show at Epcot has been disassembled after its final performance on September 30th.

Twitter user @bioreconstruct posted aerial photos showing the backstage fireworks prep area at Epcot and in the photos we can see that the Illuminations: Reflections of Earth globe has been disassembled. It’s hard to tell from the photos if the globe can be put back together in the future, or if cuts were made to permanently demolish the globe. As far as we know and concept art shows, there are no plans to reintroduce the globe in HarmonioUS.

As work progresses towards HarmonioUS, the replacement show for Illuminations: Reflections of Earth, a lot of work can be seen backstage. Here’s a look at the current work, as well as the disassembly of the Illuminations: Reflections of Earth globe.

If you’re feeling a bit nostalgic, here’s a look back at the globe as it sat in World Showcase Lagoon on the final night of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth.

For an extremely unique view of the globe and the scenes that played out nightly for 20 years in World Showcase Lagoon, check out our video of Ron Logan, former executive vice president of Walt Disney Entertainment, as he narrates a “flat” view of the globe at a Give Kids the World speaker series event earlier this year.
