As Disney continues to evaluate the best possible approach to getting guests on to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, they have offered an update on the boarding group return windows.
Up until recently, guests were given a 2-hour return window to ride Rise of the Resistance. That means that if your boarding group was called at 1pm, you would have until 3pm to ride. While the flexibility of a 2-hour return window is great for the guests, it makes it difficult for crowd management. As a result, Disney has offered the following update with regards to the boarding group windows:
UPDATE: Guests will be given a specific window of time of either one or two hours to return through their My Disney Experience app.
This is in contrast to the two-hour time window that guests have been use to since the attraction opened in early December.
Of course, the big, unanswered question is how is it determined who gets a 2-hour window and who gets a 1-hour window. Unfortunately, Disney hasn’t stated the criteria for that choice.
Other recent Rise of the Resistance news includes a survey sent out to guests about the possible use of FastPass+ for the attraction.

1 hour return window is for any group they call before the park reaches 2 hours before closing. They usually end up calling like 40 boarding groups at that time so the line stretches out of galaxies. Those final boarding groups get the 2 hour window.
