Updated Look to the 2020 Disney Dining Plan Clarifies “Loophole”

According to reports online, Disney has changed the way it displays adult and child dining plan credits for Quick Service and Deluxe plans to better clarify how points are allocated.

UPDATE: The 2020 Free Dining dates have been released! Learn more (HERE).

As seen in the screenshot below, child and adult credits are now split instead of pooled together for Deluxe and Quick Service plans. Previous to this change, the credits were pooled for all guests on a reservation, regardless of child or adult designation. This meant that, technically, child credits could be used on adult meals because they were pulling from the same allocation. With the updated presentation of the credit allocation, it seems much less likely that this “loophole” will be able to be used at a location.

In reality, this is Disney simply providing an easy to understand look to something that allowed some ambiguity in the past and could have led to some guests utilizing the Disney Dining Plan in a way that Disney didn’t intend it to be used.

This isn’t a change in policy, but it will still impact how many use the Disney Dining Plan for their next visit. Many will see this clarification of allocation as a negative to the perceived value of the Disney Dining Plan, but it is ultimately just ensuring clear communication to the guest and servers at the point of transaction.

    1. Honestly, Disney needs to completely revamp the dining plan and offer it on both coasts. Most other theme parks now offer all day dining (with an hour between meals) and all season dining (with 4 hours between meals). Some include drinks, other offer drinks as an add on, but the all day are essentially unlimited. Some all season offer two meals a day, others are unlimited with the specified time frame. But no matter what, all offer better value than Disney’s dining plan when compared to the price to purchase meals when not on the dining plan.bseriousoy the other parks dining plans are about the cost of 1.5 to 2 meals for the all day dining and for all season, usually 2 to 3 days of 2 meals each. With the dining plan at Disney, it quite often costs less to buy out of pocket than with the dining plan, even if you are purchasing the same exact things.

So, here is to hoping Disney rethinks the plans dramatically.
