Yahoo Sports Writer Says Walt Disney World is the Perfect Spot to Save the NBA Season

As Walt Disney World remains closed to guests indefinitely, one Yahoo Sports writer thinks it’s the perfect venue to save the NBA season…and he has some great points. As you might know, the National Basketball Association is just one of the major sports that is reportedly looking to restart their season with widespread restrictions. Yahoo Sports writer Keith Smith recently argued in favor of using Walt Disney World and the ESPN Wide World of Sports as the perfect venue to save the season.

While the article goes into more details (check it out), we’ll break down his argument below and why he really might be on to something.

    Housing

Under the reported terms of the NBA restart would be a complete quarantine of players, officials, and personnel. As a Disney fan, you know that Disney has tens of thousands of hotel rooms on property, but Smith points out the Art of Animation and Pop Century complex. As a small city of their own, they have nearly 5,000 rooms and plenty of food and beverage support to play host to players and more.

    Facilities

Of course, the ESPN Wide World of Sports is a perfect complex for all sports, but with the recent addition of The Arena, teams would have plenty of space for practices and games. Of course, there wouldn’t be any fans in the stands, but that leads us to the next point.

    Broadcast Abilities

ESPN Wide World of Sports is broadcast ready, flexing it’s muscle multiple times a year with a variety of sports, including NFL Pro Bowl activities.

    NBA/Disney Relationship

Well, now would be the perfect time to put the NBA/Disney relationship that produced The NBA Experience in Disney Springs to the test. As we said in our review of The NBA Experience, the NBA and Disney have had a wonderful relationship for years thanks to an ABC TV deal, and it was only strengthened with the opening of The NBA Experience.

Pro Sports Are “Essential” in Florida

For those looking to read between the lines, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently made live professional sports “essential” to the state of Florida, potentially paving the way for a NBA season that takes place at Walt Disney World.

    1. Who is going to clean the hotel rooms? Whos going to run the sports complex? Whos going to make the food on property?
All cast are furloughed except for 200 property wide to do basic upkeep in the park and this would require hundreds of cast members between the complex, resorts, and broadcast crew to pull off on the most basic level.
