New Cast Member Team Created to Monitor Social Distancing at Disney Springs

With the reopening of Disney Springs just days away, Disney is assembling a new team to engage with guests and promote physical distancing when the shopping and dining district reopens.

As we’ve outlined before, face coverings will be required by all Cast Members, Guests, and third-party operating participants when Disney Springs reopens. This is in line with CDC guidelines that recommend the use of a face covering in a public space. In addition to face coverings, everyone will be screened for a high temperature, and anyone displaying a temperature of 100.4 F or above will be directed to an additional location for rescreening and assistance. Those with temperatures above 100.4 will not be allowed entry; those in their party will not be allowed entry either.

Social distancing practices will be in place to ensure guest and Cast Member safety, including the use of one-way and other directional signage. Ground markings have also been installed to help make traffic flow as simple as possible for everyone to understand.

Of course, not everyone is taking kindly on social media for being asked to wear a mask for the safety of everyone around them, so Disney has included the following in an FAQ section of the Disney Springs website for guests who don’t feel like wearing a mask.

Disney is taking the reopening of Disney Springs extremely seriously, and will be creating a new team that will engage with guests who either have questions about the safety policy, or are simply not following it.

Remember, the reopening of Disney Springs, and eventually the theme parks that we all know and love, depends on Disney’s ability to safely operate them. Therefore, it is imperative that everyone who elects to visit Disney Springs follow the safety protocols set forth by Disney based on the guidance of health and government officials. Disney CEO Bob Chapek noted as much, stating that Disney’s ability to safely operate is in large part dependent on guest behavior.

Let’s keep each other healthy and safe.
