Earlier today, California Governor Gavin Newsom approved the Orange County request to move into a “full” phase 2 of their 4 stage reopening. New to this “full” phase 2 status is the opening of in-person dining at restaurants, retail locations, outdoor museums, and more. According to the chart we found on the City of Anaheim website, moving into a “full” phase 2 would allow parts of the Disneyland Resort to reopen. It’s likely that theme parks would be in a stage four reopening, but this new part of stage 2 would allow some Downtown Disney locations to reopen to guests.
A new mandate that required all people to wear face masks while in public was also published as part of the move, likely meaning that if Downtown Disney were to reopen as is now allowed, it would follow the model paved at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World and require guests to wear masks.
Disney has not made any announcement yet as to if or when Downtown Disney or other parts of the Disneyland Resort would reopen.
