All Four Disney World Theme Parks Shortening Hours Beginning September 8th

Just a few minutes ago, we noted that the theme park hours were shortened for EPCOT beginning in October. Now, Disney has announced that all four Walt Disney World theme parks will have shortened hours beginning September 8th. Here are the updated hours:

    • Magic Kingdom – 9am to 6pm (previously closed at 7pm)
    • EPCOT – 11am to 7pm (previously closed at 9pm)
    • Disney’s Hollywood Studios – 10am to 7pm (previously closed at 8pm)
    • Disney’s Animal Kingdom – 9am to 5pm (previously opened at 8am and closed at 6pm)

The cuts represent a 28% reduction in operating hours when compared to September 2019, not counting any hours for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which has been cancelled for 2020. The announcement comes after a third quarter earnings report where Disney CEO Bob Chapek noted that there was less demand for a Disney World vacation than Disney had previously expected.

    1. Walt Disney World is going in the wrong direction. People are not coming because of the cost for less then the full experience. Shortening the hours will just make attendance even lower. If you get the price right, people will come!

    2. You still charge that outrageous price per day but give a far less then magical experience!!!
Even when you were open before COVID your prices were getting a little insane where it makes it very hard for a family to enjoy and afford. You truly forgot what Walt was building, a family experience not a cash machine.

    3. I get it from a financials point, but I think it is the wrong call. You are lessening the experience at a time when some are willing to take the chance knowing attendance is down and they can actually get their money’s worth. By shortening the hours, you are creating a crunch to their schedules and adding to the reasons you shouldn’t go right now. Think about from the customers perspective. Why should I not go? It is hot and the corona. Why should I go, low attendance means I can actually enjoy myself and ride all my favorite rides. Disney Corporate then add their take which, from a customer perspective, is a solid “in the cons category of you get less for your money. Not the right call.

    4. This is wrong we paid 115.00 for a full day in to park. Now you want to shorten the day.Can we get our money back?

    5. Great! I JUST booked my ADR for the week of October 5th. Guess I have to reschedule my dinner plans now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a happy Mickey Mouse Club Member right now. Rumors flying that they may even close weeknights! If that’s the case, my trip is canceled!!!!!

    6. We are major Disney fans. Rebooked our trip for the 3rd time to come in Oct. We were willing to pay full price even with all our usual favorite things and resort perks gone, but this is getting ridiculous! No fast passes so we will be waiting in lines for everything, no good dining options and now less time in the parks for premium expense. Seriously rethinking our plans now. Disney has lost all aspects of a magical vacation. So disappointed!!!!

    7. Very disappointed in this decision. We’re already getting so much less for the cost of a park ticket and now even LESS time in the parks. Universal has a two for one special right now. May opt for two less days at Disney and two days at Universal. Disney needs to get their act together and offer MORE value not LESS!!!

    8. Folks that might come from NYS will not make plans because gov Cuomo says anyone traveling out of state has to quarantine for 2 weeks when they return. Folks can’t take a vacation and then spend another 2 weeks at home. Other states might be saying the same thing.

    9. If they had to change the hours, why not make 2 parks open later, close later? That would give us 2 parks for the evenings until 9 or 10. We could even eat dinner at a park. Now we will go off property for dinner. That’s a LOT of money being spent off property!

    10. No longer getting your monies worth. Walt Disney award is becoming a regular amusement park. Maybe we will try again in 2021.
